Norman Holloway
NORMAN HOLLOWAY
Today, 16th of February, 2020, Norman passed away in the Grace Hospital Intensive Care Unit. He had been sick for some time due to exposure to asbestos when he was a young man. I have lost the love of my life.
Norm was born in Newport, Shropshire, England, on July 15th, 1932, and his twin brother Gordon was born the next day, so there was a two day birthday party. The family moved to Welshpool and thereafter Erdington, Birmingham.
Norm was a carpenter and started work at age 14 making ammunition boxes. He remembers sawing sheets of asbestos with dust everywhere and no protection whatsoever. In 1966 Norm came to Canada. During his time in Canada, Norm worked as a maintenance carpenter at the University of Manitoba before returning to England in 1976. We both then came to Canada on the 29th of May, 1998, to begin our Canadian Adventure.
He is survived by his wife Tricia; his beautiful rescue dog Jade (AKA Daisy or Champ); his twin brother Gordon (Sheila, of Abergavenny); sister-in-law Lucy; nephews Gordon and Peter; nieces Diane, Ceri, Lynette and Julie; and many friends in England. He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Florence Irene Holloway; brother-in-law Philip; and niece Sandra.
Norm supported Aston Villa Football Club from a young age. He made me laugh every day and I will miss his hugs, kisses and “love you” several times a day.
I would like to thank the Jensen family, especially Elsie and Susan, who helped me so much. I couldn’t have coped without them. Also, thanks to Baldev Sidhu and our family and many friends in England. Also thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Grace Hospital ICU and Doctor C. Lowden.
One last thing, Norm was very down to earth and did not let the two bullies bother him at all.
See you later, Alligator
