Obituary of Gisela Kordewiner
KORDEWINER – Gisela Waltraud
July 20, 1929 – Gruenberg, Germany
February 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Gisela Kordewiner (nee Ilmer) cherished fiancée of the late Gus Friedrich, passed away peacefully Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Gisela was born in Gruenberg Germany July 20, 1929. She shared many fond memories of growing up in her treasured family home with her beloved sister Gitta, brothers Heinz, Adolf, Eberhard and loving parents Ida and Heinrich Ilmer. Gisela immigrated to Canada in 1956 with some members of her family where her tenacity, hard work and positive attitude helped her build a new life.
She was a dedicated and valued employee finishing her varied career with over 20 years of impeccable service at the Calgary Board of Education.
The pride of her life was her home where she loved to garden, listen to classical music and enjoy her pets, friends and neighbourhood. Gisela was a kind, generous and devoted person who made life-long friends and it was a privilege to be in that company. Gisela’s relatives here in Canada, those still at home in Germany, as well as close friends she considered family were most important to her. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all.
Many thanks to her attending doctor as well as Unit 72 nurses and staff for the excellent care Gisela received at the Rockyview Hospital.
A private Committal Service will be held at Calgary Crematorium Columbarium.
