Barbara’s Obituary
Barbara Carol Puxley (née Bean)
September 25, 1945 – February 12, 2020
Barbara Carol Puxley, 74, Shelburne, NS (formerly of St. John’s, NL) – Died peacefully at her home in Shelburne with family by her side. Born in Saint John, NB, and pre-deceased by her parents, Bernard and Ruth (Rock) Bean, and her partner, Brian Payton. She will be remembered with love and admiration by her brothers, David (Joyce) and Robert (Pam); children MaryJane (Chris) and Peter (Aku) and their father, David; and her granddaughters, nieces, and nephews. In going through her memorabilia in recent weeks, Barbara came across the following quote, which she had copied in her lovely hand-writing years ago, from Elizabeth Gaskill’s novel, Mary Barton. She thought it might resonate with those whom she leaves to mourn:
“I do think that the necessity for exertion, for some kind of action (bodily or mentally) in time of distress, is a most infinite blessing, although the first efforts at such seasons are painful. Something to be done implies that there is yet hope of some good thing to be accomplished, or some additional evil that may be avoided; and by degrees the hope absorbs much of the sorrow.”
Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. No visitation or memorial service requested. You may sign the online guestbook by visiting www.huskilson.net.
