MILES, Stanley George
February 15, 1948 — February 4, 2020
Stanley George Miles passed away on February 4, 2020 at the Kelowna Hospice House, at the age of 71. Stan is survived by Vanda Stocks, his wife of 22 years; his daughter Sarah Miles; and stepsons Justin (Lauren) Stocks, Trevor (Carlene Roberts) Stocks, and Andrew Stocks; his mother-in-law Tessie Kent; his sisters Pat Burnett and Elizabeth (Russell) Brown; his brother David Miles; sister-in-law Debbie (John) Baird; brothers-in-law Rick (Andrea) Kent and Jim (Deborah McCann) Kent; his nephews Myles Burnett, John (Colleen) Miles, Jamie (Pamela) Brown, Stuart Brown, Robert Brown; and niece Deena (Kris Gilbertson) Burnett. Stan was predeceased by his parents Ted and Dorothy Miles; his sister Chrissy Miles; sister-in-law Teresa Peterson; and brother-in-law Ken Peterson.
Born February 15, 1948 in Victoria, BC to Ted and Dorothy Miles, Stan enjoyed fishing, camping, black powder, raising sheep, and his beloved appaloosa horse, Lacy. Stan spent most of his life on Vancouver Island and relocated to Kelowna almost 10 years ago.
Stan retired 2 years ago and was looking forward to traveling with his wife, Vanda, and in their home on wheels. An avid craftsman, Stan was always coming up with something unique. He will mostly be remembered for his jokes.
Stan’s family would like to extend a thank-you to the nurses and care aids at the Central Okanagan Hospice House who made him comfortable in his last week and a very special thank-you to Dr Prozesky.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Recreation Room at The Gables, 1249 Pacific Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
