Carmen died peacefully at her home on Friday, January 31, 2020, after a 12 year battle with ALS. She was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, on June 18, 1938, and lived in the village of Eureka for 19 years. She then moved to the USA where she attended nursing school in Boston. After two years in the US Army, she worked for 20 years as a surgical nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Chicago.
