Susan “Susie”
Petley, 91, of Harcourt, passed away peacefully at the
Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, with her four
loving children at her side, on Sunday, February 2,
2020.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova
Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Alice (Parsons)
McPherson.
Susan retired from Sears
Canada (Sales Clerk) with 15 years’ service. She was a
member of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church in Bass River and
attended Grangeville Baptist Church. Susan was a member of the Ladies
Aid Group at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Past President
and Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Harcourt Legion Branch No. 75
and member of the Harcourt Area Senior Citizens Group. Her hobbies in
past years included crafts, playing darts, crossword puzzles and time
spent with her family and friends. In recent years, she enjoyed many
hours on Facebook, keeping and commenting on all the posts. Her
favorite signing off expression was “HUGGS AND GOD BLESS
XOXO”
Susan will be sadly missed by
her children, Sheila Handrahan of Harcourt, Sandra Petley of Kent
Junction, Kenneth “Ken” Petley (Tracy) of Beersville and
Richard “Rick” Petley (late Norine) of Lutes Mountain;
grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, John, Jessica, Kendra, Travis and
Tyler; great grandchildren, Cobey, Mason, Abby, Leanna, Ariya and
Jackson; sister, Dorothy Pushcar (late John) of Rexton; brother,
Hector “Sonny” McPherson (Margaret) of Shediac and several
nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
In addition to her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Morrin “Dick” K. Petley
(December 1999); sister, Margaret; brothers, Robert, Hugh, John, Bill,
Allister, Douglas, Bruce and two infant sisters and two infant
brothers.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr.
Michelle LeBlanc, as well as the doctors and nurses at the
Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital for the care and compassion shown to our
mother and her family.
Visitation at St.
Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Bass River on Sunday, February
9, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm. Ladies Auxiliary of Harcourt Legion
Branch No. 75 Memorial Service at 2:45 pm, followed by a Funeral
Service at 3:00 pm. Reception in the Harcourt Legion following the
service. Interment will be in the Harcourt Joint Cemetery in the
spring.
