Gwen Clarke
1930 – 2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Gweneth Clarke announces her passing at South Country Village, Medicine Hat on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the age of 90 years. Gwen was born on January 16, 1930, and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She worked as a bar maid at the Redcliff Legion and then for the Town Office in Brooks until her retirement. Gwen loved knitting, crocheting, the Calgary Flames and watching her children and grand-children in sports. She was an avid dart player and participated in many tournaments over the years. Gwen battled with Alzheimers and has been a resident in care homes for the past 15 years, with the last 12 years at South Country Village, where the residence and staff became her second family. Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her children, Carol (Terry) Baron, Debbie (Larry) Goldade, Tim Kristianson, Bill Kristianson; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children and three great-great-grandchildren. Gwen was pre-deceased by her parents, Sidney and Mary Cutforth; her first husband, Clarence Kristianson and her second husband, Bernard Clarke. Gwen’s life will be honoured with a Celebration of Life at a late date. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Gwen’s name may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, #201, 770 – 6 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 4J6.
