It is with sadness that the family of the late Joyce Malina Colbourne (nee Hewlett), age 91, of Robert’s Arm, NL announce her passing on Monday, January 13, 2020 from the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre.
On October 27, 1928, Joyce Malina was born to Rueben and Fannie Hewlett of Port Anson, NL. She was the youngest child of five children.
She spent her first eight years growing up in Port Anson, she then moved to Robert’s Arm with her family. It was there that she met the love of her life, Obed Colbourne and later married on December 14, 1951. Together they had three children, whom she adored. Her family was her pride and joy and she took great pride in caring and providing for them.
Joyce also loved to tend to her gardens, around her home. In her younger years, she loved to play darts and was known to be an awesome player. In later years, when her son Randy moved home to care for her, she enjoyed watching a hockey game with him whenever they could. She was also known as a person who loved to tell a great story.
Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Personal Saviour in 2007. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Word of Life Tabernacle. She loved to attend church and worship with family and friends. She loved to read God’s word and sing praises to Him.
Her radiant smile would light the room and will be remembered forever. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her husband Obed Colbourne; parents Rueben and Fannie Hewlett; granddaughter Jody-Lynn Colbourne; sisters Carmen Parsons, Blanche Martin; brother Don Hewlett.
Joyce leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, sons Randy Colbourne, Earl Colbourne; daughter Kay Colbourne; grandchildren Jason (Jurist) Colbourne, Jamie (Chantel) Colbourne; great-grandchildren Saundar Martin, Sophie Colbourne, Aiden Colbourne, Kyler Colbourne, Kayla Colbourne, Kayson Colbourne, Kaisley Colbourne; brother Calvin Hewlett, as well as other family members and friends.
