It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Katherine Dennis on December 20, 2020, at the QEII, Halifax.
Born October 14, 1941, in Siderno, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Stepano and Angela (Saverino) Agositno.
The thing Kathy valued most was family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. She was the essence of family, and will be remembered for her loyalty, selflessness, love and genuine care and concern for others, always putting them first. She never forgot a birthday. Kathy was an excellent cook and enjoyed walking. She had a great sense of humour and loved to talk, laugh and connect with others.
Kathy loved her husband, Bruce, unconditionally and lived true to her vow to be with him in sickness and in health, staying by his side for many years during numerous medical challenges. Kathy lost Bruce on Christmas Day last year. Her heart was broken without her soulmate, but now they are reunited.
Left to mourn her loss and cherish her countless beautiful memories are her daughters, Dorothy (Charlene Arsenault) Dennis and Laura (Scott) MacNeil; granddaughter, Taylor MacNeil; grandsons, Sam and Jack Payne; brothers, Frank (Joyce), Rocco (Barbara), Joe (Gail), Bert (Wendy) and Tino (Nancy) Agostino; sister-in-law, Pat (Ray Bauschke) Dennis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
Besides her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Bruce; only sister and best friend, Amie Muller; and brother, Santo.
A funeral service will be held at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Thursday, January 7 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. A private family graveside service will be held in Alfred Smith Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and for her love of all children, donations can be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation.
