Evelyn’s Obituary
Evelyn Gertrude (Jones) Fraser, 83, of Bridgetown, passed away December 23, 2020, with her loving family by her side. Born on February 12, 1937, in Port Elgin, N.B., she was a daughter of Mansel and Emma (Walton) Trenholm of Cape Spear, N.B. She is survived by her 10 children Susan (Bryan) Bent, Pamela (Don Smith) Jones, David (Jackie Whitman) Jones, Kim Jones, Tim (Stephanie) Jones, Tracy (Bob) Frazier, Peter (Allison) Jones, Shannon Martin, Darren Jones and Stacey (Kirk) Lycett. Evelyn (Nanny Fraser) is also survived by grandchildren (great grandchildren) Jennifer Johnson (Christopher, Cory Emma & Hannah), Dallas Bent, Nova Bent (Francis, Emery & Elsie), Olivia Beviss (Logan & Boady), Caroline Tagg (Charlotte, Ayla & Avalene), Cassie Bent (Iris, Arie & Abel), Courtney Sheridan (Kirra, Zoe, Owen & Liam), Alexis McNeil (Isaiah & Annalise), Bronwen McGuire (Jack, Clara & Eloise), Cory Bent, Bevan Jones, Jeremy Bent, Jamie Frazier (Ashton & Sadie), Carrie Frazier, Riley Jones, Kenneth Tully, Kristan Tully, Tahlia Jones, Hilarie Jones, and Daniel Martin. As well, Evelyn is survived by her sisters Daisy Butler, Pauline Goodwin, Myrna (Brian) Mitton and brother David (Joyce) Trenholm. Evelyn was predeceased by her late husbands, David Jones in 1994 and Allister Fraser in 2011. She was also predeceased by her sister, Violet Phinney; grandson Christopher Beviss and most recently her brother, Mansel (Junior) Trenholm. Evelyn was a mother and homemaker to her family of ten children. She was a baker extraordinaire! She was also a respectable bridge player, bowler and loved to play other card games such as solitaire, auction 45, and cribbage (as long as she was winning). She was a spirited one for sure! She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading and chording music on the piano, while singing/yodeling along, in her earlier years. Ev loved music and continued to sing along with songs that she knew from a wide variety of genres, well into her advanced stages of Dementia. Her truest of interests/loves though were her babies. She loved all babies and ended her years with a baby doll that brought her much joy. Visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren also brightened her days. Evelyn lived her final months in the loving care of her daughter Stacey and husband Kirk Lycett’s home in Bridgetown, following extended periods of residence and care at Crosskill Court, Mountain Lea Lodge and Heart of the Valley, long term care facilities. She was able to be visited and supported by her children and grandchildren during Covid 19, at Stacey and Kirk’s, which was a blessing. Her caregiver Catherine Hannigan Cranton was dedicated and loving to a fault and Evelyn’s family is truly grateful for that. Dr. Goodine continued to make home visits to ensure that our mother could be kept as comfortable as possible throughout the more challenging, final months of her life. Arrangements are in trust to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448. A family celebration of life will take place at a later date and Evelyn’s cremains will be taken back to Port Elgin, N.B., as per her wishes. A committal service will happen at that time. The family of Evelyn Fraser is indebted to the Middleton Funeral Home for their professional and caring service. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Nature Conservatory of Canada (of which she was a longtime contributor, to her time of death) or to a charity of one’s choice.
