Obituary
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched.
Louise Gabrielle Janzen age 79, with her daughters Michelle and Sandra by her side, passed away peacefully in hospital December 16th, 2020 due to a rare lung disease “Chronic Hypersensitive Pneumonitis”.
Louise was born on September 13th, 1941. She was married to Hugo Henry Janzen on November 16th, 1963, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She was the beloved mother of Michelle, Sandra (Steve), and Sylvie. Stepmother of Patricia (Gerry), Rick (deceased). Mother to Special friend Wendy (Jim). Grandmother of Amanda (Pete), Dylan, Shannon (Steven), Jacob, Michael, and Grace. GG (Great Grandmother) to Ava, Abigail, and Talia.
Louise was born in Quebec City to her parents, Francoise Faguy, born in Quebec City, QB, and her father, Labroquerie Boucher De La Bruere born in Old Orchard Maine, USA. She has five brothers and sisters, Pierre (Celine) both (deceased), Helen (Lucien), Lucie (Garry), Jean (Anne). Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise had a beautiful heart which was shown by her love and devotion to her foster children for 51 years. She started fostering in 1968 taking infants for adoption. Later she felt compelled to take children with physical and mental disabilities. She cared for one boy she loved as her own Ricki; Ricki had Cerebral Palsy with numerous seizures daily and was fed by a tube in his stomach. With her love and care Ricki thrived to the age of 25. She then went on to care for babies born with drug withdrawal. Her foster children are what kept her young at heart right to the end. Louise received numerous certificates and gifts from the Foster Families Association for her services.
Louise’s dream was to be on an acreage and have fresh chicken eggs daily. To have flower and vegetable gardens. In August of 2010 she made that dream a reality and moved to an acreage. She had a devoted dog named Lassie who preceded her in death May 2014. Louise was survived by her devoted companion “Zena” her Border Collie. She was recently predeceased by Bill whom she missed very much, a friend who helped her around the acreage with grass cutting and whatever else she needed done.
In 1974 Louise got her diploma as a Medical Secretary and went to work for Dr. Michael Krochak. She loved her job and I remember her telling us she would take the bus in 40 below weather twice a day to save up for her own car which she obtained in 1975. She was so proud of herself.
We traveled with mom several times to Quebec City to visit numerous relatives over the years. She loved camping so we would travel by car and camp along the way. She had to have a lot of patience to survive those trips with us three girls screaming in the back seat of the car. We also traveled by train when we were very young and slept in a bedroom train car. Mom didn’t like to fly so we stayed close to the ground.
Louise had a great sense of humour. She loved to collect dolls, to journal, to play cards, and recently to be on her tablet. She loved taking care of her plants and burning her cardboard and papers in her burning barrel. Mom loved to keep busy and you didn’t see her sit for long, so when she was diagnosed with the lung disease in March 2020 and on oxygen 24 hours a day, she lost her will to live. She would tell us her head wants to do so much but her body couldn’t. Near the end she watched movies with Grace until all hours of the night, and Grace made sure mom got what she needed anytime she asked. Mom will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Mom’s wishes were to be cremated and buried in the family plot in Quebec City. When we are able to do so, we will take her home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will not be having a celebration of life at this time. Flowers and cards of sympathy can be sent c/o Sandra Delorme 658 Hargreaves Lane Saskatoon, SK S7R 0G6
