It is with sadness that the family of William Arthur Miller announces his peaceful passing in his 71st year on December 13, 2020 in Lindsay. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Beloved husband of Diane Elizabeth (nee Armstrong) of Lindsay, dear father to Mark (Sarah) of Leduc County, Alberta; Christine of Thunder Bay; David (Rachel) of Saskatoon and cherished grandfather to Hayden and Henry of Leduc County; lovingly remembered by his sister Eileen, of Edmonton.
Bill was born in 1949 in Port Alberni, BC to George Miller of Moosomin, Saskatchewan and Patricia Enraght-Moony of Fort Vermillion, AB. Raised in Moosomin, SK and Claresholm, AB, Bill attended University of Calgary before heading west to BC. He joined Environment Canada and spent the next 35 years providing scientific technical support in Cambridge Bay, Edmonton, Yellowknife and Whitehorse. He was the radio voice for weather in the north for over 20 years. Bill and Diane raised a family in Yellowknife and Whitehorse and made many dear friends over their 40-year marriage. He deeply loved his family. He was appreciated by all for his sense of humor, kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand.
He loved to travel and explore new places. He was a keen golfer from an early age. He organized a men’s golf league for many years and volunteered with Scouts Canada. He read avidly, enjoyed gardening and was a cycling enthusiast. Bill was actively involved with his church, Riverdale Baptist, in Whitehorse and attended Fairview Baptist Church in Lindsay. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Many thanks to the Dr. C. Hobbs as well as the palliative care staff at the Ross Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
