Obituary of Alexander “Sandy” Morgan
Morgan, Alexander (Sandy) Baird
On December 14, 2020, Alexander (Sandy) Baird Morgan passed away at the Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington. He had celebrated his 89th birthday on October 15, 2020. Sandy had been a resident of Leamington since 1956 and a retired employee of Heinz. He had worked at Heinz for 33 years as a Research Chef. Sandy was the son of Alexander Baird Morgan, Sr. and Loretta Alice Lariviere of Montreal where Sandy was born. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John as well his longtime partner of 30 plus years; Don Lockerie. He is survived by his husband, Dennis Dowker, his sister-in-law, Linda Morgan of Guelph, his niece, Karyn Morgan-Day (Jamie Day) of Milton, his nephew, Jason Warnes (Melissa Williams-Warnes) of Toronto and his nephew Bryan Morgan (Jennifer Bonello-Morgan) of Cambridge. He will be missed by his great nieces, Jadyn and Brooklyn Morgan, his great nieces, Addison and Brynn Warnes and by great nephew, Aydan Day. Sandy will be remembered by many as someone who volunteered to support many charitable causes: driving cancer patients to the Cancer Centre in Windsor, driving for Meals on Wheels, the Red Kettle campaign and many other agencies in the community. His sense of humour endeared him to everyone he met. Sandy also danced with the Royal Society of Scottish Country Dancing for many years. He enjoyed walks and swimming. Sandy was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Leamington and supported the work of the church in so many ways. In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, cremation has already taken place and he will be interred at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at a date when his family can attend. Sandy also wished to have a Celebration of his Life on the anniversary of his marriage to Dennis providing the coronavirus restrictions will permit that to happen. Arrangements are entrusted to the Reid Funeral Home Ltd, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (529-326-2631). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Erie Shores Hospice or Erie Shores Healthcare of Leamington.
