Stephanie “Makade mahkwa kwe ishpi gabawi” Keeash
January 17, 1996 – December 08, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and auntie Stephanie Jerri Carolyn Keeash. Stephanie is predeceased by her parents Samanus Keeash and Roger Thompson.
Stephanie leaves to mourn her two step-sons Kolton & Logan Norris that she loved, cherished and adored, her loving grandparents Steven and Caroline Keeash, her only sister Nina (Brandon and their children Charleigh-Ann and Thomas), uncles Clifford, Zeb (Darlene) and Eli (Gayle); aunties Veronica, Dorothy and Denise (Micheal), numerous cousins Kerry, Joseph, Jermaine, Skye, Ethan, Evan, Hope, Dewey, Emery, Krista (Tony, Saphyre, Dennis, April & Kristopher), Desiree (Sierra, Dayna, Aries), Marlene (Jarome), Maddux, Mason, Jaden, Phoenix, Terron, Makiah, Dalyce and Uriah as well as extended family too numerous to mention.
Survived by her uncles Fred Thompson, Karl Thompson, Phillip/ Linda Thompson, Dan Thompson, auntie Clara Voth, predeceased by her uncles Clifford, Bruce, Lymn, and auntie Emily, also surviving are cousins Kevin Thompson, Kim Thompson, Roberta Semenko, Leonard Thompson, Nick Thompson Angie Voth, Brenda Voth, Warren Voth, Tiffany Thompson, Lyndsey Kempert, Mike Thompson, Andy Thompson, Clayton Thompson and numerous other second cousins.
Stephanie was born and raised in Dryden, Ontario most of her life. Upon the loss of her parents, she was raised by her grandparents. Stephanie was previously employed at the Dryden Native Friendship Centre.
Stephanie lived life to the fullest, deeply loved her little nephews and nieces. She was always the brightest smile in the room, and she would always keep your spirits up. In her spare time she enjoyed to play ukulele, sing and dance. Stephanie also loved to play video games, and geeked over Animal Crossing when it made its release.
Stephanie was a long-time supporter, Board member and volunteer of the Dryden Native Friendship Centre. Stephanie was also a member of the OFIFC Indigenous Youth Council and sat on the OFIFC Board of Directors for several years. Stephanie was featured in some training videos aimed at improving Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations. We will always value the contributions Stephanie made to the Friendship Centre movement.
A visitation will be held Saturday December 12, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes.
A visitation will be held in The Eagle Lake First Nation Bingo Hall Saturday December 12, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Wake Services begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will follow Sunday December 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Roy Napish Sr. officiating.
