Obituary
LOUGHEED , Peter Bruce
June 10, 1948 – November 29, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter in Orillia, Ontario, on November 29th, 2020.
Beloved son of his late parents, Marjory Gain (MacMurchy) and David Lougheed. Dear step-son to the late Thomas Gain. Loving father of Roz (Steve), Will, and Tim. Fondly remembered by the mother of his three children, Anne Lougheed (Smith). Survived by his brother, Ian Lougheed (Nicole), and sister, Jane Lougheed. Predeceased by sister, Anne Montpool (the late Jerry).
Peter was passionate about his role as an educator, teaching elementary and high school students in the Greater Toronto Area and Simcoe County, including 20 years at Eastview Secondary School. His love for teaching extended beyond the four walls of the classroom, whether it was on the white water of the Madawaska river, or on the ski trails in Horseshoe Valley.
He had a deep love for the Ontario north, and was happiest after a paddle and a sauna by the lake at the family camp in Chapleau. He enjoyed sharing stories of time spent there with family and lifelong friends.
The family thanks the people both near and far who stood by Dad in recent years.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In memory of Peter, please consider donating to the ‘Eat Well to Excel’ Simcoe County nutrition program for school-age children (eatwelltoexcel.ca/).
