Obituary of Robert “Bob” Sherman Tilley
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Sherman Tilley after a painful battle with cancer. Bob is survived by wife Ann Marie, daughters Alisha and Alyson and son Brandon, daughter-n-law Megan and two precious grandsons John and Thomas. Bob is also survived by his extended family, parents Frank and Joan, sister Lori and brothers Todd and Jeff.
Bob started out his life in Windsor where he grew up. He made friends wherever he went. He was the life of the party and was able to make people laugh in almost any circumstance. Not just the polite little laughs but the deep belly aching ones that always made you feel so much better. That was Bob. He was kind of a “doctor” in that way; bringing the medicine of laughter to all he spent time with. From the earliest days he loved going up in the woods. Whether it was the ski-doo trips with Dad when were to too young to go by ourselves, or with his hunting/fishing buddies when he got older, he simply loved the woods. The woods seemed to breathe life into Bob as if there was a special connection between him and nature. It was his place of rejuvenation and peace.
Bob moved to Badger after he married Ann Marie and began to settle into married life and being an amazing dad to Brandon. Before too long he took his family to Nova Scotia and settled in a little town outside Yarmouth. It was here Bob began his career as a fisherman. That was always ironic to us as we all knew he was prone to sea sickness. But he made the best of it as Bob does and began to create a good life for his family. Bob finally settled for the remainder of his life in Clark’s Beach where is continued his fishing career while creating a beautiful home for his family there on the corner of Main Street and Hill Avenue.
Bob touch the lives of many in ways that often went unsaid and it isn’t until the his passing from this life to the next do we see the impact of his life that is now so evident in the lives of those he came in contact with. From his co-workers on the boat to the neighbours on the street and everyone in between, Bob was liked by all and a friend to many. Bob was more than a good father to his three kids, he ended being a father figure to many more though his foster care and just being the “mayor” of the little “town” where he kept his trailer. Bod had a heart of gold and wanted to lend a helping hand wherever he could. Even in his last days he was thinking of others and wanting to do as much as he could to be of help.
Bob has finished his time here on earth and has gone on ahead to “scope out” all the best spots in heaven for us who will join him there one day. I bet he’ll have a special little cabin up there on a pristine lake just waiting to cook up a scoff for when we all meet him there. Rest in peace my brother.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Bob
