Obituary
Hooper, Ruth – It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Marion (Moore) Hooper announce her passing on Nov. 30, 2020 in North Bay, ON.
Born July 3, 1936, Ruth was the daughter of the late Reuben and Myrna Moore of High Bank, PE. Ruth is survived by her husband Howard in North Bay, son David, daughters Donna Hooper and Karen Hatton-Hooper, grandsons Benjamin and Thomas Hooper, Jack Hatton and great-granddaughter Elliana Hooper.
Ruth graduated from Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown and the Aberdeen School of Nursing in New Glasgow, NS before embarking on a long career in nursing in both PEI and Ontario. As a military wife, Ruth was skilled in packing and unpacking her family during their many postings, finally settling and retiring in North Bay. She and Howard spent their summers visiting friends and family in PEI and Pictou, NS, seeking out local celilidhs and lobster suppers. No one ever forgot meeting the fun and feisty Ruth, who always took her tea in a china teacup and often carried a Red Rose teabag tucked in her purse. Ruth was tiny but spirited, evident in her stories about doctors who unwittingly underestimated her nursing skills and her adventures raising three young children in Germany during the 1960s. She is irreplaceable in our hearts. Ruth is survived by her sister Evola MacKenzie and was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Benjamin Moore.
An internment at the Murray River Cemetery is planned for summer 2021.
