Albert Kopec 2020

Albert’s Obituary
With his family at his side, Albert Kopec, beloved husband of Violet Kopec of the Buchanan District, passed away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on Sunday, November 27, 2020, at the age of 81 years.
Albert was born on September 21, 1939, in Canora, SK, to Anton and Nellie (Pura) Kopec. He attended and received his education at Christian school. As a young man, he met the love of his life, Violet Stratychuk, and they were married on November 1, 1959, in Buchanan, SK. Together, they were blessed with seven children.
A grain and cattle farmer, Albert worked hard to provide for his family. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and very involved in varying church activities, which included singing in the choir and building the Roman Catholic Church in Buchanan, SK.
Above all, Albert loved and made his family his priority, focus, and greatest passion. His life’s greatest achievement was the birth of his children and the many wonderful family celebrations. He revelled in the moments surrounded by his family at gatherings, celebrations, or simply enjoying their company, while sitting around a bonfire.
Through all the treasured moments shared throughout their lives together, one of Albert and Violet’s memorable experiences was when they travelled to Nanaimo, BC, Las Vegas, and Washington, DC.
To truly sum up Albert’s legacy, he lived a simple life and always wanted the best for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Nellie; his daughter, Patricia Kim, in infancy; granddaughter, Kindra Marie; sisters, Rose (Paul) and Anne (Halldor) and brothers, Victor (Irene) and Peter.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Violet; daughters, Teresia (Fedor) and Sharon (Darrell); sons: Myron (Syndee), Larry (Kelli), Bryan (Melanie), and Jason (Dannette); grandchildren: Shelby (Lucy), Kyle (Jen), Chantelle (Jesse), Crystal (Jordan), Shawn (Dee), Rachelle (Clayton), Krystalee, Keaira, Kenzee, Durrel, Charnel, Tionna, Marley, Bryson, Braydon, Madison, Eden, Ava, Jaxson, and Trenon; great-grandchildren: Mya, Addison, Brynn, Tucker, Jett, Bo, Aria, Gunnar, Jackson, Savannah, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Brendan, Emmalia, Claire, and Josie; and his sisters, Katie (Bob) Johnson and Emily Kosar; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
In Albert’s honour, a Public Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK. A Private Family Service will be celebrated on Friday, December 4, 2020, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Kuruvilla officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK.
