Judy Jackie JJ Nora Curran 2020

Obituary
Judy “JJ” Curran
1997-2020
On November 27th, 2020, Judy Jackie Nora Curran (JJ), the beloved daughter of Laura-Lee MacNaughton and Joseph Curran both of Miramichi, departed from her earthly life at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton at the age of 23.
She resided at Mill Cove Nursing Home at the time of her departure, and had previously been a resident of both Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home and Losier Hall in Miramichi, as well as Tara House in Sus. During her time at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Miramichi, JJ became a proud graduate of James M. Hill Memorial High School in the class of 2019.
She is survived by an extensive family. Older brother Alexander Curran and sister in-law Sabrina MacDonald, younger brothers Christopher Curran (CJ) and Theodore Curran (TJ), younger sister Alyssa Curran of Miramichi. Step-mother Candace Boyd, step-brothers Jared and Cameron Boyd, step-sister Sarah Boyd of Cody’s, NB. Grand-fathers Wesley (Gail) MacNaughton of Quarryville and James (Jane) Curran of Warwick Settlement. Grand-mothers Geralding Larsen and Judy Goulette of Miramichi. As well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by step-grandfathers Edward Larsen and Joseph Goulette (Tony) of Miramichi.
From her first breath to her last, JJ’s spirit was in constant battle with her body. A battle that took her on an extraordinary journey in life which lead her to places such as the IWK Health Center in Halifax and the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in Montreal. She also went on multiple trips to Toronto to undergo oxygen therapy and frequently visited the Stan Cassidy Center in Fredericton.
Her journey did allow for some normalcy for things such as daycare, school and enjoying outdoor life at Camp Rotary. She also loved attending church to hear the music, and her pastor “Willie” Watling speak her Lord’s message.
Although she required a lot of physical and health care due to her condition(s), in spirit, JJ never asked for much. She loved the simple things in life. Her music, her movies and she loved listening while you read her a good book. She also loved getting out of the house, whether it was going for a walk or a drive. It didn’t seem to matter to her what the activity was, as long as she was with the people she loved.
Physically she faced many dark times but never did the light of her spirit dim because of it, this could be seen by all through her beautiful smile, infectious giggle and her beautiful twinkling eyes. Her spirit was and still remains very strong. God gave her a spirit that radiated light, hope, faith, strength, love and acceptance for all who were blessed by her presence in their lives.
With limited vision, her spirit only allowed her to see the world and the people in it through God’s eyes. This benefited her in a way that most people wouldn’t know. JJ was blessed to only see the beauty and goodness in all that surrounded her. Her purpose here was a great one for she helped others to see what she saw. She also taught us many things such as patience and empathy.
The works that she started here needs now to be finished in spirit, this required sadly for her earthly presence among us to come to an end. She will never be gone as long as those of us here are willing to help continue the journey for her. God’s work for her continues even now and her spirit will remain strong here for a time yet to come if we are willing to allow for him to move her among us where and as she is needed.
I have been so blessed by God to be chosen to call her my daughter and am in awe of how he has used her for such a profound purpose to bless others. I know that in my daughter’s eyes I was a hero, but she was also mine. I will forever hold on to Mark 11:24 because of her.
I leave you now with what I believe to be her final words. Please don’t cry for me, but if you must let tears of joy fall. Jesus loves me this I’ve always known, but this “Sh#$” was BANANAS ! This is not goodbye for us, I’ll be with you always. This simply means you’ll no longer see me but must feel me now. Remember me as the small boat on an ocean sending big waves into motion without a single word. Lastly smile when you think of me because “Free at last, free at last, Praise God for I’m free at last. I love you all and thank you for being a part of my journey.
