Obituary
Thérèse Pharand (January 17, 1934 – November 28, 2020) passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020, after a long 13 year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Thérèse was born in Montreal and raised in Val-d’Or, Quebec. She came from a large family of 11 siblings whom she loved with all her heart. She was a military wife and mother who made sacrifices for her country while supporting her family and husband, RCAF Veteran, during his long career with the Canadian Armed Forces and she did it with grace, humour, perseverance, and joy.
Thérèse was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humour who loved to play with her children and then later with her grandchildren. She had an amazing ability to connect with any individual that crossed her path. Although in the last few years, she had lost the “meaning” of “friend”, “daughter”, “husband”, etc. Her eyes always lit up when someone approached her, and she always brought a smile to all that knew her until the very end.
Survived by her children Lyne (Peter) and Carole (Randy), grandchildren Joseph (Florencia, Joaquin), Jonathan, and Justin and predeceased by her husband Gilles of 56 years, her son Guy, and her granddaughter Michelle. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Interment will be held at a later date at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe, Ontario.
Our family wishes to express our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses, personal support workers and volunteers at the Grace Manor, who supported Thérèse for over 10 years. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Grace Manor (1156 Wellington Street West, Ottawa, Ontario, K1Y 2Z3. Telephone (613) 722-8025, or www.gracemanor.ca/).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Therese Antoinette Leclerc Pharand January 17 1934 November 28 2020 (age 86)..
