Stanwood, Howard Coleman- 90, of Overton, passed away peacefully on November 20,2020 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 19,1930 in Yarmouth , he was the only child to the late George and Gertrude (Killam) Stanwood. Howard was a hard-working family man, not only raising his own family but many foster children over 35 years. In his earlier years he was a deck hand on the Bluenose, later turning his career to the fisheries. He loved handlining in the summer and lobster fishing in the winter. Howard had a knack for telling stories and enjoyed going for drives. He is survived by his children, Rickey (Audrey) Brown, Monteagle, NB.; Billy ( Laura ) Stanwood, Hebron; Rose Cunningham, Yarmouth; Les Stanwood, Overton; Donna (Rocky) Stanwood- Rose, North Sydney; grandchildren, Julie (Darryl) Brown- Robichaud, Monteagle, NB; Jody (Paul) Brown- Wilson, Wheaton Settlement, NB; Tim Cunningham, Overton; Tyler Comeau, Clare; Meagan Comeau, North Sydney; Noah, Leah and Sarah Stanwood; Layton Landry; great grandchildren, Georgia and Samantha Robichaud; Colton Cunningham; Audrey, Eliot and Albert Comeau; Elijah Wilson. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Ruby; granddaughter Tanya Cunningham. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Funeral service will be Sunday, November 22 at 2 pm from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev A.D Bill Newell officiating. Interment in Chegoggin Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
