Obituary
Jean Margaret Ranaghan (nee Lundie) passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years.
She is survived by Peter and Andrea of Calgary, and Jason of Lethbridge. She is also survived by her nieces Julianne Sinclair of Edmonton, AB and Donna Abma of Lacombe, AB.; her nephews Kevin Lundie and Robin Lundie, both of Lacombe, AB, and Micheal Borm and Gregory Borm of Calgary, AB.
Jean was born in Lacombe, AB to John (Jack) and Mary Josephine (Molly) Lundie. There she grew up on a farm with brothers Murray, Doug and Dick, and her sister Eileen. Jean developed a strong work ethic, sense of pride and willingness to help others. In the 1950’s she moved to Calgary and worked for Imperial Oil for a number of years. She also met her love, Richard. They married in December 1961 and honeymooned in Hawaii. After that, Jean helped Richard in the family insurance business Ranaghan and Gould.
Jean always loved to cook and entertain friends and family and was always the “hostess with the mostest”. She had strong faith which kept her going and was always expressed in her generous and kind spirit. Jean always had a smile and positive attitude as well as a great sense of humour and sharp wit. In her son Peter, she instilled her love of music.
A private funeral service will be held with a graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
