PODGURNY Katherine Kay Loretta November 17 2020

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother and grandmother Kay, who passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital at the age of 103 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Rodrick (Ludmila) and Bruce Mollison; daughters Gail Jenkins and Marlene Podgurny; as well as her sisters Aldona Harrish and Adelaide Wood; sister-in-law Marian Halwa; grandchildren Mitchell, Madison and Jessica; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kay was predeceased by her husband Edward Podgurny in 1968 and by her parents John and Anne Halwa, as well as seven of her siblings: Caroline Chimera, Stella Sereda, Frank Halwa, Henry Halwa, Adolph Halwa, Wanda Markstedt, and Louise Clark.
In her 103 years, Kay kept her family and her Catholic faith central to her life. She was so proud of her children and especially adored her grandchildren who she delighted in spoiling with her delicious meals, her baking, and the traditional dishes she prepared for Christmas and Easter. Everyone loved Kay’s cooking and baking and will especially remember her amazing cinnamon buns, cakes, and perogies.
Kay lived a full life with dignity, grace and humour. We will miss her more than words can say.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311 91 Street.
