Mary Edith Joyce Gosende (Ferrar) (nee White)
August 2, 1930 – November 13, 2020
Mother said her last good-bye with family by her side, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her first husband Garnet Ferrar 1971, her mother Eva White 1977, dear cousin Suzanne Morin 2019, & sister-in-law Grace Bruce (Ken) 2001. Survived by: The Ferrar Children -Deborah, Barry (Suzanne Renaud), Donald (Regina); Grandchildren – Melissa (Jason Sperry), Conrad, Nathan; Sister-in-law Barbara Dillon (Des); Brenda Bergeron (Bob) -daughter of Grace Bruce; Robert Morin (Lyn). She divorced her second husband in 1983. Born in Montreal during the depression. Later resided in Oxford/Bedell Station, Limerick Forest, Marlborough Township, Kemptville, Ottawa and Kanata. Worked hard all her life – Hopson’s Pharmacy, Kemptville and in government at Energy, Mines and Resources. Returned to school in her 40’s to complete her education. Travelled widely – North and South America and Europe. Avid and excellent Quilter – leaving so many quilts unfinished. Great interest in politics and current events, her golfing buddies and her two faithful companions Pepi (Bichon Freise) and Skye (Cairn Terrier) gave her much joy, both predeceasing her. She suffered a stroke this past year which sadly affected her vision, memory and comprehension along with increasing medical issues. A humble Thank You from our family to the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff who initially cared for her at the Queensway Carleton Hospital A3 & ALC Unit, the caring and compassionate staff of the Symphony Senior Living Retirement Home Memory Unit, Kanata, all talented front line workers who went above and beyond during Covid-19, plus the complete trauma team in the ER, the A5 and A4 staff of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Thank you to the LNIN and Palliative Nurses who gave guidance. Donations in lieu of flowers to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Cremation will be followed by a Private Service and interment at Beckett’s Landing Cemetery.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Edith Joyce Gosende White Friday November 13th 2020..
