Obituary of Ina Jean Corkum
Estey’s Bridge NB, died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Emery Corkum. Ina was born in Springfield, Antigonish Co. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Rose) MacGregor. She is survived by sons Byron and Barry (Grace); and by daughter Catherine Stewart (Charles); sister Dama and brother Arthur, grandsons John and Grant as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings Christina, Rose, Mary, John and infant sister Ann.
Ina was a faithful member of Calvary United Baptist Church in Spryfield and was very active there until her health declined. For many years she enjoyed bowling and playing golf. She also enjoyed reading novels, solving word searches and cryptoquotes, and playing Scrabble. She faithfully read Scripture every day, and looked forward to reading Our Daily Bread.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., where visitation will be held Fri. Nov. 13 from 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held at Birch Cove Baptist Church on Sat. Nov. 14 at 2 pm. with Pastor Andrew Sutherland officiating. Social distancing will be in place and mask wearing is mandatory. The service will be live-streamed. Interment in Sunrise Park Cemetery will take place at a later date. Donations in Ina’s memory may be made to Devon Park Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
