Obituary of Robert Kenneth McBee
McBEE, Robert
1948 – 2020
Robert (Bob) was born September 30, 1948 in Gull Lake, SK. He passed away suddenly at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on October 29, 2020, two years after being diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia.
The McBee family moved to a farm in the RM of Grandview in October of 1948 when Bob was just three weeks old. Bob attended school in Springwater, SK until the high school closed. Then he completed Grades 11 and 12 at Biggar Composite High School. He was a member of the Grassdale 4-H Club.
Right after high school Bob started a short banking career at the Biggar branch of CIBC and was later transferred to the branch in Vonda, SK. The next and longest part of Bob’s working life was at the Federated Co-operatives Limited head office in Saskatoon. During his 20-plus years as an employee there his positions ranged from Printing Clerk to Computer Operations Supervisor.
Before his early retirement in 2000, Bob worked as a Customer Service Technician at Co-operators Data Services Limited in Regina. His last full-time job was as Assistant Manager at Riverside Badminton & Tennis Club in Saskatoon.
Bob was an excellent badminton and tennis player. He competed at the national level in both sports. He also liked to golf. And he always enjoyed a few cold beers with friends after a match or round.
Before health issues slowed him down, Bob was never one to sit around the house. As soon as the weather permitted, he would be outside getting an early start on his summer tan. He liked to travel; going to watch the 2008 Australian Open tennis tournament was one of his favourite trips. Bob always enjoyed going to house parties, movies, and dances… he loved to dance.
Bob is predeceased by his parents Margaret and Ken. He will be lovingly remembered by his life partner of 32 years Bob Harvey, his brother Dale (Len Rogers) and his ex-wife Bev McBee.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be postponed until all his many friends and family can get together to share our memories of this very special person who shared his life with us.
Bob’s family would like to acknowledge and thank all caregivers working during this time of COVID, particularly the first responders at M.D. Ambulance and the staff at Royal University Hospital who made Bob as comfortable as possible in his final days.
Anyone wishing to make a charitable donation in Bob’s name may consider the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or the Royal University Hospital Foundation.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert
