Hazel May Stuart Sunday November 1st 2020

Hazel May Stuart (nee Blanchard), 99 amazing years, born Jan. 11, 1921 in Bonny River, N.B., to Frank and Marianne (Melanson) Blanchard. Moved to Bell Neck, N.S., and later settled in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County. Hazel and her husband, Jean, raised a family of 3, took in several foster children, ran a small farm, and lived a wonderful life together. Hazel had a beautiful personality, was kind-hearted and easy going. She had an abounding love for her family, nature, and animals. She cared for her family and fur babies with a steady hand, lots of good homemade food, which she often shared with neighbours, and always with a smile on her face. Her sense of humour, and love for life was evident in everything she tackled. She loved her pet cow Lucy, all of the horses and ponies she raised, the many cats and dogs she adored, and Barney, the bull. She loved taking her ponies to the local exhibition and she had trophies to account for her prizes. Hazel enjoyed the fall season, hunting with her family in the backwoods, often passing up a shot to enjoy the beauty of nature. She was a talented seamstress, and made beautiful clothing and numerous quilts by hand. There was nothing Hazel was afraid to tackle, and she never liked to be fussed over. Her positive attitude and amazing sense of humour was something she passed on to others. She always said with great delight “I’ve had a good life!” That attitude prevailed in all that she did.
Hazel was pre-deceased by her husband John “Jean” Bernard Stuart, her sons James “Jim” Franklyn Stuart and Arthur “Art” Allen Stuart, brothers, Bernard (Bernie), Medford (Joe), Alvin (Peanut) and Danny; sisters, Lillian, Estelle, and Cereta. She is survived by her daughter Alice Hiltz (Ron), her daughter-in-law’s, Rosalie “Rose” Stuart and Beth Stuart, grandchildren, Jim, Anne, Jonathan, David, Darrell, Annette, Dan, Andy, & Raegan, many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her laughter and amazing stories will be missed by all.
