Obituary
Bryce grew up in Calgary, graduated from Western Canada High and quickly entered the seismic business in 1952, working for various companies in the Oil Patch where he made many lifelong friends. Starting 1960 Bryce sold drill bits for Walker MacDonald, covering many miles along the way. In 1967 he moved to Explosives Limited as Sales Manager. In 1981 he started his own company, BryceCo Manufacturing Ltd., where he manufactured survey markers (pin flags) and supplied drilling fluids to the Seismic Industry.
Retiring in 2000 Bryce started driving School Bus for Southland Transportation until they realized, skilled though he was with the children, he was over their retirement limit. This comes from not looking your age. In 2011 he rose to a new challenge and passed all exams to become a realtor. A serious accomplishment. A long-time active member of the C.S.E.G., Bryce made friends, golfed, skied, curled and played bridge. He helped organize many Doodlebug and Doodlespiel events over the years. The Goofoff golfers saw him at every tournament, looking for the new Chairman (first guy to complain – about anything!). Bryce took great pride in telling anyone that he had been on the Long Drive Committee for the Shaw Charity Classic every year since its inception. He was a long-time member of Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club where he played six days a week, more if he could.
Bryce’s love of fly fishing saw him lead an interested group in stocking the pond on Hole #11 for evening fishing. Bridge with the North/South group and curling filled winter hours and working out 3 days a week kept him fit for all the things he loved to do.
Family was most important to Bryce. Holidays, dinners, rib bbq’s and picnics were what he loved the most. Bryce is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 36 years; his daughters D’Arcy (Falasconi), Darlene, and Jody; and five grandchildren, Karley, Shelby, Rachel, Rylen, and Jillian. Bryce was predeceased by his parents his brother Jerry; his first wife Joan; and his infant son Peter.
