BELLIVEAU, Marion – Age 76 of Grosses Coques, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Lake Doucette, she was a daughter of the late Henri and Celeste (Deveau) Deveau.
Marion graduated as a CNA at the old Infirmary in Halifax, where she met her husband of over 50, Gerald Belliveau. They eventually moved to Grosses Coques and raised their young family. Marion and Gerald established strong roots and remained in Grosses Coques the remainder of their lives.
Kind hearted and always ready and willing to help family, neighbours, friends and her community. Retired from Canada Post. Volunteered for various community organizations and events, such as “les Jeannette”, church council, fundraising for the church and Belliveau Cove Boardwalk. She was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Over the past few years, she lovingly cared for and enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Noirette, a great hunter.
A passionate crafter, always working on one or multiple projects at a time, such as rug hooking, knitting, making jewellery, crochet towels, quilting, coloring and many others. A crafting project was always at the ready in her craft room or on a table by her chair. Marion belonged to the Rustic Crafters group that met at the Weymouth Library on Friday afternoons to socialize and work on various crafting project. The last few years she worked mostly hooking beautiful wool rugs. She and her crafting friends always looked forward for the yearly crafting retreat weekend at Oak Island.
Marion is survived by children, Janet Belliveau, Halifax; Robert (Davie Cherie), Grosses Coques; Gail (Scott) Boudreau; brothers, William (Marie), Mavillette; Roland (Delima), Saulnierville; Louis (Hazel), Amirault’s Hill; step granddaughter, Ivy Chryz.
She was predeceased by husband, Gerald; brother, Harold; sister, Yvonne.
Visitation will take place in Meteghan Funeral Home on Monday, October 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic provincial regulations, masks are mandatory and social distancing guidelines must be followed. A private funeral mass will be held in Église Sacré-Coeur, Saulnierville, officiated by Rev. Hospice Akoffodji, assisted by Rev. Albeni d’Entremont. Burial will follow in St. Mary`s Cemetery, Church Point.
I lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Jacky Comeau & Friends Cancer Help Fund Association, St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery Fund, Salmon River, or to Clare Feral Friends.
Marion has touched the lives and hearts of many and will be greatly missed.
