Angus Ogilvy Birse
Angus O. Birse, 87, of Moncton,
passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, October 23,
2020.
Born in Lachute, PQ, he was the
son of the late James and Helen (Gibson)
Birse.
Angus was formerly employed in
Fire Protection with Viking Fire Protection Inc. and attended St.
John’s United Church. He was an avid downhill skier and Team
Captain for his canoeing team, winning two Canadian Championships.
Angus was an active paddler at Cartierville Boating in Montreal from
1950 – 1960 and captained seven War Canoe crews from 1959
– 1968, both Junior and Senior
leagues.
Angus will be sadly missed by
his wife of 43 years, Eugenie “Geannie” (LeBlanc) Birse;
several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Whalen (John),
Juliette Anderson, Fernande Babin (Arthur); and brothers-in-law,
Clarence LeBlanc (Florence), Donald LeBlanc (Claudette), Walter
LeBlanc and Richard LeBlanc (Bernadette). Angus was the last surviving
member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by sisters, Margaret and Helen and brother,
Cubby.
A Service to celebrate and honor
Angus’ life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel,
1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday, October 29, 2020
at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment
will be held at the Catholic Cemetery in St. Antoine. COVID 19
protocols must be observed and the wearing of a mask is
mandatory.
