Glendon “Glenn”‘s Obituary
FRITZ, Glendon (Glenn) Donald ~ Passed away peacefully, October 15, 2020 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton with daughter Bonnie by his side. Born April 25th, 1938 in Port George, NS to Leigh and Elma (MacKenzie) Fritz. Glenn attended school in Port George and Middleton. We aren’t sure if he was present everyday but that’s a whole other story. Glenn worked at Armstrong Motors, Middleton for 2 years before taking a job at TRA, Middleton for 6 ½ years. His next job of 26 years with Thompson’s Transfer found him and the family moving to Dartmouth where he was Branch Manager (Wyse Rd.). Due to health issues he and the family moved back to the valley where Glenn worked as manager of claims and rates at the Middleton Branch where he later retired. Glenn was a member of the Halifax Board of Trade and Transportation Committee, Dartmouth First Baptist Church Bowling Leaque, First Baptist Church in Dartmouth, Middleton and Port George United Baptist Church, were he was also a Deacon. His last home church was Victoriavale Baptist Church. Glenn loved to camp and was a member of the Kingfisher Campers, Halifax for 7 years. We all have such fond memories of our camping days. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, working in his shop, attending and watching hockey games (many, many hockey games. Sometimes we had to compete for his attention during hockey season. Dad had a natural born ear for music, he loved listening to, playing and singing. He was a member of the Old Country Group along with Loris and Vernon Connell, Garnett and Bob Banks and was former member of the Annapolis Valley Men’s Gospel Choir. Dad also looked forward to his Monday night Jam Sessions at the Port George Recreation Centre. On October 25th, 1958, Glenn married his sweetheart Sherilyn Maurine Sarty and together they started his legacy. When we were growing up Dad pitched right in alongside of Mom to care for us. He was in his own right a “Mr. Mom”. A quality you inherited Michael. Dad was also a great cook. His goulash was an all-time family favorite. Daughters, Bonnie and Patricia were fans of his Eggless wartime cake. All his loved ones have fond memories to cherish forever. He certainly left his mark. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, in-laws, Earl and Maurine (Smith) Sarty, brother-in-law Maynard Hines, niece Lynn Hines, infant grandson, Daniel Trenholm and great grandson Chance Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sherilyn, sister, Lorraine Hines, (Kingston), niece, Janice (Paul) McNeil, (Kingston), daughters, Bonnie (Tom) Leggett,(Berwick), Katherine Fritz,(Kingston), Patricia Fritz, (Meadowvale),Deborah (Chad) Trenholm,(Cole Harbour), Sherri Gail (Paul) Freeman, (Kingston), son, Michael (Darla), Vermilion, AB, grandchildren, Joseph (Joey) Taylor, Shannon Leggett, Norman Leggett, Bradley Campbell, Chelsey Campbell, Nathan, Welton, Cassidy, Connor Trenholm, Liam, Aiden Fritz, Logan and Laura Freeman and Larissa Goucher, great grandchildren, Tristen, Madison, Ashtyn, Jacob, Austin,Olivia, Cameron, Caleb, Rowen, Savannah, Hope, Cameron, Abbie, Callie, Cohen, Kindree and Ellie, great great nephews, Dawson and Lincoln.
