It is with heavy hearts the family of Dennis Ugene Joseph Perrier announce his sudden passing on October 17, 2020 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was greeted at Heaven’s gates by his parents, Romeo and Edith, his brothers Romeo (Sonny) and Wayne, his sister Paulette, his nephew Lance, his Mother and Father in-law, Raymond (Pee-Wee) and Violet Lamothe and his sister-in-law Jeanine (Gauthier) Perrier.
Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 45 years, Beckey, his children, Nicholas (Penny), Sheena (Alec) Daviau, along with his 5 grandchildren that he was so very proud of, Madison, Suri, Lukas, Lexi and Quinn. Dennis’ memory will also live on through his brother Raymond (Susie), in-laws Luc Desmarais, Linda Perrier, Valerie (Marcel) Goyer, Cindy (Jim) MacKinnon, Tammy (Todd) Borden and Rene (Becky) Lamothe as well has his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dennis was the kind of man you wanted to be around, he had a big heart and loved to surround himself with friends and family. You could always count on Dennis for a good laugh, an ear if you needed to chat or a shoulder to lean on for support. He opened his arms and heart to everyone. He had an undying passion for his family and the Montreal Canadiens! He spent his years doing things he loved such as coaching his children and wife hockey and baseball. You could always count on him to be either on the bench or in the stands cheering on his wife, children and grandkids. He loved spending his summers at Nettie Lake with his family.
He was proud to be a part of his community especially in providing for the children. He was involved in fundraising for building a rink shack in Swastika, getting the rink going, bringing the ONR Christmas Train back to Swastika, Santa at the Swastika Firehall, the Santa Claus Express and he also led the Swastika 100th Anniversary Committee and sat on the KL 100th Anniversary Committee.
He was proud to be a part of the Kirkland Lake Town Council, he wanted to make a difference in the town he loved. He was a member of the Swastika Volunteer Fire Brigade for 29 years and a 4th Degree Knight (Knights of Columbus) and also served a term as Grand Knight. He started his long mining career in Timmins at Kidd Creek and finished it off at KL Gold in Kirkland Lake where he spent the majority of his career. He was devoted to his career; he looked forward to going to work every day. He retired in February 2020 and ended up going back to work in the summer.
This is not goodbye. Dennis had a very strong faith. He believed in life eternal. We know that he is at peace now. Now it’s our turn to go live life to the fullest and keep his legacy alive.
Donations in Dennis’ memory can be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #2748 or the Kirkland & District Hospital Foundation.
