Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dale Chartrand on Tuesday, October 13th. He was an employee for the Town of Smithers and a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. He was a beloved member of the community.
Dale was an entertainer – which included acts such as the Blues Brothers or Sunny and Hair. It didn’t matter where he was; the hockey locker room, fire practice, or just a regular Friday night, Dale would be front and center, recounting one of his many stories. This love of entertaining and making people laugh also led to his yearly appearance at the Annual Amateur Comedy Night at the Legion. He loved telling new people his old jokes.
He enjoyed his annual fishing trip with Bob and friends, camping at Francois Lake – which would regularly include a solo on the wooden spoons and drinking his newfound peach whiskey.
You knew you were special to Dale if he shed a tear for you. He had many friends that he considered family, including all of his brothers at the fire hall.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughter Taylor (Billy), son Reid (Tara), stepdaughter Sarah, stepson Ron, his grandchildren; Seth, Olivia, Dylann, and Abigale, his sisters; Joanne (Bob), Della (Bill), and Lori (Jerry), his mother and father, Sophie & Joe and his many nieces and nephews.
Dale will be joining his sister Debbie (1998) and brother David (2006) on the main stage.
The family would like to thank everyone for their help and well wishes. We are overwhelmed by everyone’s support.
Due to the current pandemic, his celebration of life will be postponed until 2021.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dale Joseph Chartrand December 5 1958 October 13 2020 (age 61)..
