Obituary of Margaret Purves McKim
With heavy hearts, but with appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Margaret P. (Hopkins) McKim announce her passing on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Shannex- Embassy Hall. Born January 20, 1930 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Lillian (Heans) and Harold Hopkins, and wife of 53 years to the late Edward “Donald” McKim who passed away in 2016. She was also predeceased by her sister, Sally Regan.
Margaret kept an immaculate home and prepared delicious meals. She was an avid square dancer, knitter, and bridge player. One of her favourite activities was her annual trips to Florida, going to the beach and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Church and faith were of utmost importance. Most especially she adored her five grandchildren.
Margaret will be missed by her daughters, Jane d’Entremont (Marc) and Sarah Duguid (Peter); grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexander, James, Victoria, and Catherine; special cousin, James Evans; nieces, Ann McGinnis and Cynthia Doyle; and all extended family members.
The family would like to thank the staff of Embassy Hall for their exceptional care and friendship over the past few years. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1 pm in Fernhill Cemetery, following social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.BrenansFH.com.
