Edmond J. Hachey
1933-2020
Edmond Hachey (87), of Berry Mills, NB, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, October 11th, at the Moncton Hospital. Born in
Inkerman, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Edward and Eva
Hache (Landry). He is survived by two brothers, Leonard and Francis
Hache, and his sister, Patricia Hache. He was predeceased by his wife
Clara (Vautour), his daughter Susan Hachey, his sister Lydia and his
brother Edgar.
Edmond spent his childhood years in Inkerman, then moved to
Toronto as a young man. In Toronto, he worked 27 years as a welder for
Simcoe Refrigeration. He then retired and moved his family back to New
Brunswick in 1977, where he and Clara purchased and ran the Restwell
Motel and the Berry Mills Care Home for the next 15
years.
Edmond had many passions in life. He loved anything that
involved being outdoors. He had vegetable gardens, grew grapes and
raspberries; he collected sap for years and made his own maple syrup.
Although he loved to hunt, fishing was his passion. In his later
years, he purchased a boat and spent many hours out on the water
fishing for mackerel. He also loved participating in flea markets,
collecting old coins, and buying antique clocks.
He is survived by his children; Nancy Payne (Steve), Noreen
(Brenda), Wayne (Shelley), and Sandra Hachey. Edmond is also survived
by six grandchildren (Kelly, Kaylie, Jennifer, Abby, Sarah and
Michael), as well as four great-grandchildren (Landon, Hayden, Harlow,
and Nolan).
In honor of his wishes, there will be no visitation, a
private family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery
on Thursday, October 15th.
