Simon’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Simon Tucker announce his peaceful passing at the Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit of Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the age of 89 years after a long and well-lived life, surrounded by loving family.
Simon leaves to mourn his children, Leonard (Hazel) Tucker of Meadows, Rosemary (Randy) Parsons of Summerside, Nancy McCarthy of Irishtown, Marie (Robert) Blundon of Corner Brook, Wanda (Michael) Brake of Meadows, Robert (Nancy) Tucker of Meadows, Johnny (Twila) Tucker of Summerside and Kevin (Sandra) Tucker of Meadows. Also left behind are his 14 grandchildren, Tanya McCarthy (Duane), Krista Dunphy (John), Amanda Tzenov (Youlian), Melissa Brake (Garrett), Randi-Megan Vincent (Dale), Steven McCarthy (Andrea), Angela McCarthy (Neil), Thomas Blundon (Jenn), Michelle Samms (Michael), Alexander Brake (Megan), Robin Combdon (Lewis), Johnny Leroy (Cindy), Sarah Browning (Jeff) and Tanisha Tucker (Nathan), all who share special memories, laughs and stories of the man affectionately known as “Pop” and his 16 great-grandchildren, Emily, Simon, Leo, Nixen, Tennessee, Phoenix, Gracie, Landon, Owen, Corey, Seanna, Sean, Ilsa, Dominic, Brody, Riley, Haylee and Cameron, as well as many nieces, nephews in the extended Tucker and Pearce families.
Simon was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Catherine in 2013, his son-in-law Sean McCarthy, his parents Arthur and Eliza Tucker, brother Hedley Tucker and sisters Stella House, Bridget Christopher and Regina Lewis; stepbrother: Frank Parsons.
After a wonderful full life of 89 years, Pop now makes his final journey into the waiting arms of our Nan, Catherine, where they will be together forever again. Goodbye for now Pop, until we “see ya later”. A special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care unit, the medical staff at Western Health for their kindness during dad’s illness, and to the staff and residents of Bayshore Estates Retirement Home in Irishtown for making Dad so comfortable during the past 7 years.
A private family viewing will take place from Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road. Funeral services will take place Sunday, October 10 at 2:00 PM from All Hallows Roman Catholic Church, Humber Road with Father Jim Robertson officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are accepted.
