Obituary of Julie Frances Steward
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Julie Frances (Downey) Steward on October 5, 2020 with her family by her side.
Julie, known to most as “Jules” was born in Cranbrook on January 7th, 1953 to Florence (Parent) Downey & Vince Downey. Julie had a gift for having amazing friendships and making people feel loved. We will always miss her beautiful smile.
Family was always the most important thing to Julie, and she loved it when we were all together. She enjoyed taking care of her many beautiful flowers in her yard, sitting in the sun, golfing with the girls, and 2:30 “Beer Time” in the shop with Dave.
Julie is survived by her husband Dave of 50 years, daughter’s Nancy (Scott) Smiley, Gerie-Lynn (Dan) Nielsen and 4 beloved grandson’s Lucas & Cameron Smiley and Geoffrey & Nathan Nielsen, brother Laurie, sister in law Lynn and nephew Blair Downey. She also leaves behind many special cousins.
Julie was predeceased by her parents Vince & Flo Downey, Dave’s parents Ernie & Hazel Steward, and nephew Jackson Downey.
A gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Julie’s wishes were for donations to the MS Society (Cranbrook Chapter).
We will love her forever & always do our best to make her proud!
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
