Obituary
STRIEMER, Henry
On the morning of September 25; a lovely cool fall day, Henry Allan Striemer; our husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. His wife Bonnie, his son Greg (Lesley) & his son Dan (Stacie) were with him as he left on his final journey to be with Jesus. Although it hurt deeply, that we had to say goodbye; he had lived for so many years with so much pain that for him to be finally at peace was a blessing for us all.
To continue the legacy of his kindness and the love that he shared with all he knew. As his wife; Bonnie of 52 years; his children Greg & Lesley, Dan & Stacie and Keanna. His grandchildren; Nason & Jazmine, Austin & Breanna, Jordyn & Emily and Lilianna. His great grandchild David (Nason & Jazmine). He is survived by his sisters: Freda & her husband Dan Nutter, Doris & her husband Alvin Gajadhar and Tena & her husband Vic Fehr. His sister-in law Connie & her husband Ray Yablonski, and brother-in- law Willard & wife Karen Nichols as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Al was born on March 1, 1948 in Coaldale, Alberta. He was the first child to Abe & Mary Striemer. His actual birthday was February 29 and he was always proud to be a leap year baby. The family moved to Burns Lake, BC and later settled in Hague, SK. When they moved, to the farm, he was ten years old and he took care of so many of the farm duties and responsibilities. As he grew older, he continued on being a hard working young man with the farm and helping to take care of his five younger siblings. When he turned 15, he left home and found odd jobs as a hired hand. At the age of 19, he met Bonnie and a year later, they were married September 21, 1968. By then he was a full time employee of Ridsdale Transport where he continued to work for 48 years. Over the years he drove truck, was a mechanic, he took on being a farmer, a carpenter and at the time of his retirement, he was a fleet manager with Ridsdale.
After his retirement, Bonnie and Al continued to live on their acreage where despite his declining health he loved to get on the riding lawn mower, Barbeque and make meals for the family. He loved to visit with family & friends and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside.
Al was predeceased by his mother and father; Abe & Mary Striemer. His brothers Leonard Striemer and Lawrence Striemer. His in-laws; Viva & Clarence Nichols, brother in-law David & wife Shirley Nichols and infant granddaughter Reanne Sydney Lynne Striemer daughter to Dan & Stacie.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held at later date.
