Obituary
Kruesel, Victor John
May 17, 1933 – September 14, 2020
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad and grandpa. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Rose of 66 years; along with children, Victor Jr., Helen, Tom, Greg, Darlene, Mike and Donna (Sheldon). Also left to mourn his passing are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dad was born May 17, 1933 in Kerrobert to Paul and Mary (nee; Birwert) Kruesel. He grew up on the family farm near Dodsland. He met Rose in Edmonton in 1953 and they were married in August 1954.
Together they farmed the family farm until 1962 then moved in to Kindersley. Dad drove mail delivery truck for Sitter Transport from 1962 until 1970. Dad and Mom moved to Saskatoon in 1964. He started as a caretaker at Bishop Klein School the summer of 1970 and remained there until his retirement 26 years later in 1996.
Dad was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Parish, where he celebrated his devout faith which brought him great comfort especially in his final days. My Dad had a soft spot in his heart for kids (especially his grandkids) and animals, he was known to bring home the odd stray. My Dad enjoyed hunting everything from the biggest buck, fowl, antelope to the smallest gopher. He loved to tinker on any project that came his way, he found satisfaction in finding ways to complete all these projects using his ingenuity and the odds and ends he had gathered over the years. My Dad had an amazing pride of ownership. He took such good care of things that even after years of use they were like brand new. Dad enjoyed watching his family grow over the years and in tending to my Mom in their retirement years. My Dad was known for his incredible work ethic whether it was his mail truck delivery job or his many years of caretaking at Bishop Klein. His mentality was if the job was worth doing you did it to 110% always. We would all lend an ear to Dad’s detailed storytelling right up to his passing and will miss those times immensely.
Victor now joins his parents, parents-in-law, sisters, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son as well as many friends who have gone before him to share in God’s Love in Heaven. A Private Mass of Christian Burial for Victor will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM with a Private Rite of Committal to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Charitable donations may be made in Victor’s name to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation c/o Palliative Care (1702 20th St. W., Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9).
