Irene Evelyn Burk September 11th 2020

Irene Evelyn Burk (nee Carpenter) passed away peacefully in the Olds Hospital at the age of 97 on Friday, September 11, 2020. Irene was born in Trochu, AB on June 9, 1923, to George and Sophie Carpenter. Soon, she was the oldest of nine children. After moving around for several years, Irene’s family resided in James River, where she met Harold Burk. Irene and Harold got married on January 2, 1943, in James River. After their union, they settled in James River until 1966 when they sold the farm and moved to Olds, AB. Irene loved to paint, go camping, and always kept her candy dish stocked for any visitors. Irene is lovingly remembered by her children, David Burk (Carrol), Larry Burk (Carol), Linda Mahoney (Ken); her grandchildren, Angie Dube (Ron), Shelly Burk, Debra Burk (Mike), Darcy Burk (Tina), Kim Burk (Kindra), Carrie Notely (Brent); and her half-brother, Robert. She is also survived by her twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and in-laws. Irene was predeceased by her parents, George and Sophie Carpenter; her husband, Harold Burk; her son, Donald Burk; her siblings, Joyce, Raymond, Frank, Bud, Ramona, Shirley, Vivian, and Robert. A special thanks to her granddaughter, Debra Burk, who took care of Irene and kept her company in her last months. Thank you to the Olds Hospital and Dr.Houvie, for your gentle compassion, in addition to your greatly appreciated efforts. Thank you to Seasons Encore in Olds, AB as well, for making Irene feel like family. There is no planned service for Irene Burk. She will be laid to rest in the Fields of Honour with Harold.
