John Daniel Bobka
March 15th, 1938 – September 8th, 2020
John Daniel Bobka (Dan) passed away peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on September 8th, 2020 at age 82. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years Judy Bobka (née Bush), Dan was a wonderful father to daughter Sarah Bobka (Jamie Davidson) of Haydon, ON and a loving ‘Poppa’ to Maddie and Charlie. Predeceased by his parents John & Betty (née Shields) Bobka of Cornwall, brother to Terry Bobka of Virginia Beach, Jean Harpur (Greg) of Cornwall and predeceased by Betty Ann Taylor (David) of Ajax. Dan also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Dan was a Captain with the SD&G Highlanders (Reserves), a former teacher and held other various roles within the Cornwall community. He was an avid volunteer, involved in Cubs and Scouts, a member of the Cooper Marsh Conservators and active in local politics to name just a few. He was also an amateur astronomer, often sharing his love of the stars with seniors and student groups. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted for Hospice Cornwall Carefor or Parkinson Canada, arrangements have been entrusted to WILSON FUNERAL HOME, 822 Pitt Street.
