It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Marie Riley, 80, of Spring Garden Road in Sydney,on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Edna MacCormack.
Helen was a devoted wife and mother, who, before her illness, enjoyed time with family, daily walks and exploring Cape Breton by car with her husband Allister. Helen was a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mostly, Helen will be remembered for her love and devotion to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who always came first in her life and in whom she trusted for her salvation.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Allister; daughters, Carolyn (Joseph) Lusk, Howie Centre and Linda(Michael) Wilms, Ohio; son, David (Lauri-Ann), Lower Sackville; grandchildren,Derek and Kristen Lusk, Alissa Wilms and Megan, Rachel and Lincoln Riley;sisters, Sarah (Robert) Brown and Jean (Scott) Wilson-Busby; brothers, Clarence,Gilbert (Marilyn) and Lloyd (Maxine); sisters-in-law, Hazel, Rose and Janet.
Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her brothers, John, James (the late Muriel), Donald, and Calvin and sister-in-law, Alice.
A private family service will beheld on Tuesday, September 15 with her nephew Pastor Philip Mac Cormack and Pastor Ian Crooks officiating. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 15 from 2-4 p.m. Interment in Eastmount Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of MacDougall Court and Steelworkers Lane of Harbourstone Enhanced Care for their wonderful care and support.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
