Doris went home to be with her Lord at 5:15pm on August 31, 2020. She was born Doris Winona Stuart on October 18, 1928 in Moncton, New Brunswick. Her parents, Edgar and Isabella Stuart, and her four older siblings lived together on a farm in Scotch Settlement, N. B. They moved to Moncton, where Doris completed a stenographer course and worked as a secretary after high school. After marrying Ralph Cudmore, she moved to Nova Scotia, and then to Windsor, Ontario to follow Ralph’s career with Chrysler, Canada.
Doris heard the gospel as a teen and understood her need for a Savior. She placed her faith in Christ at the age of 21. Her favorite Bible verse that gave her assurance of salvation was Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”. She followed the Lord from that time on and was always faithful in being active in her local church. From June 2014, she made her home at the Leamington Retirement Residence. Then in December 2019 she moved to their long term care unit. The staff at LMH will always have a special place in our hearts for their excellent care of Mom. During the past few weeks, we appreciated Nettie facilitating virtual Zoom calls with Mom.
Doris is survived by her sister, Alice Stewart in Edmonton, AB; four children: daughter JoAnn Dorrepaal (Mark), Norfolk, VA; son Michael Cudmore of Princeton, B.C; daughter Rebecca Macaulay (Malcolm) of Saskatoon, SK; and son Mark Cudmore (Julie) of Battle River, SK. Grandchildren include: Bradley, Christopher and Heather Elford; Maggie Coulthard, Ryan Pozzobon and John Cudmore; Rachel and Grant Macaulay; Ashley Kemeny; David, Daniel, Mathew Campbell and Julia Robarts. Doris also had 12 precious great-grandchildren, and 9 nieces and nephews.
On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 reservations and personal face coverings are required to attend visitation from 11:00 – 1:00pm at Families First, 1065 Lauzon Rd., East Windsor, 519-969-5841. A private interment will be held.
