Obituary
Darleen Schwormstede (nee McNeil) of Carseland, AB passed away on August 31, 2020 at the age of 71 years.
Darleen was born in Vancouver, BC to Ralph and Loyce McNeil on August 10, 1949. She was an army brat and lived all over the country during her youth. Darleen settled in Southern Alberta living in Calgary, Brooks, and a few small towns until she ended up in Carseland in 1978/79, where she spent the rest of her life. Darleen could do so many things and took pride in everything she did. She was a fantastic cook and bread maker. Her grandchildren were her whole world for the past 17 years. When asked what her greatest accomplishment was, she responded ” My Children”. We would say being a great mom and friend.
Darleen is survived by her sister Colleen (Jim) Wallis of Cabri, SK; her daughter Angela Eriksen of Carseland, AB; daughter in- law Cristy (Greg) Monteith of High River, AB; grandchildren Paige, Brooke, Ava, Rhylee and Kate; nieces and nephews Anthony, Tony, Natasha, and Christina; and her step-daughters Tracey and Lesley. She was preceded by her parents Ralph and Loyce McNeil, and her son Lance Norton.
Donations can be made in Darleen’s memory to the Alberta Children’s Hospital (www.childrenshospital.ab.ca/) or Dreams Take Flight (dreamstakeflight.ca/).
