Earl’s Obituary
STELLARTON – Earl Stanford Fraser, 99, Stellarton, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at home.
Born on May 7, 1921 in Plymouth Park, he was a son of the late Gordon Stanford and Florence Willard (Porter) Fraser. During the Second World War, Earl served as a paratrooper with the First Special Service Force and later as navigator with the RCAF, ending his military career as staff sergeant. Following, he worked in the banking industry in several provinces, and then as President of the Veteran Cab Company in Windsor, Ont. Upon retirement, Earl took up farming in Merigomish, where his great joy was to grow vegetables, raise livestock and spend time with his many friends and Bull Mastiffs, Sam and Max. He was a 70-year jewel holder of Keith Lodge No. 23 A.F. & A.M., Stellarton. Earl possessed a brilliant mind, natural leadership ability and a wonderful sense of humour. His proudest legacy was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter, Donna (Mike) Kirby, Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Gordon (Betty-Anne) Fraser, Big Island; John (Sally) Fraser, Merigomish; grandchildren, Lisa (Dennis) Langton, Matthew Kirby (Tracy), Dr. Sarah Fraser, Dr. Katie Fraser (Dr. Michael Popovic), Sean (Sarah) Fraser, MP, Jessica (Jamie) Chaytor, Mary (Peter) Meredith and Jane Fraser (Matt); great-grandchildren, Nicole, Chase, Norah, Alexandra, Rita, Molly, Colin, Eva, Maggie and John.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Betty Wilson; son, Charles Simon Fraser; sister, Doris Stewart; brother, Donald Fraser; infant great-grand-daughter, Ruth Caroline Fraser.
Earl’s family wishes to thank Monica for the wonderful care, kindness and friendship she provided to Earl over the past number of years.
In honour of Earl’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
