Sherman’s Obituary
Williams, Sherman Earl-82, It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Sherman Earl Williams of Jordan Branch, Nova Scotia on August 18, 2020. Born on April 26, 1938,Sherman was a son of the late Colin and Martha (Firth) Williams. He leaves behind a brother Charles (Myrtle) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and a nephew Charlie (Suzanne) of Halifax ,Nova Scotia. Sherman had a variety of jobs throughout his working career including lobster fishing with his brother, working at Shelburne Woodworkers and working at the Ven-Rez manufacturing facility in Shelburne where he worked to manufacture educational and library furniture. In later years he transitioned his career to the manufacturing of fiberglass boats and gear for the fishing industry in Nova Scotia; being well known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He stayed with this job until the end of his working career. As a younger man Sherman had an interest in amateur boxing, spending time training and boxing in Shelburne, Liverpool and Bridgewater. He also enjoyed hunting sea ducks, geese and white-tailed deer. In later years he stopped hunting but still enjoyed nature. He also took pleasure in cutting firewood. Throughout his life Sherman had a love of everything music. He could play multiple instruments including the guitar and the accordion. He was also learning to play the banjo and fiddle. Sherman really enjoyed singing and playing impromptu kitchen gatherings with friends. Sherman also had a great deal of caring for his pet cats, who lived a pretty pampered life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA in Yarmouth or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
