Phyllis McTiernan 19342020

Phyllis McTiernan
1934-2020
Phyllis Ann McTiernan (nee
White), age 86 of Moncton, died peacefully on August 25,
2020.
Born in Bathurst, NB, she was
the daughter of the late Bernard and Sarah White (Melanson). She
graduated from the Sacred Heart Academy and worked for Bathurst Pulp
and Paper in her early years. In 1969 she relocated to Moncton with
her husband and young children.
Phyllis loved and dedicated
herself to her family and community. She was active in parish life at
Holy Family Catholic Church; a charter member of the Catholic Womens
League; a catechism teacher for many years; and later an active member
of the Holy Family Seniors Club. She also volunteered with numerous
organizations including Home and School, the Heart and Stroke
Foundation, Pastoral Care at the Moncton Hospital, and the Karing
Kitchen. In addition to the closeness of family, Phyllis found joy in
life’s simple pleasures like gardening, music, dancing and strolling
the beach (which she grew up close to on the north shore). She loved
to skate, and in more recent years kept active everyday with long
walks for as long as life would allow her the
pleasure.
Phyllis was predeceased by her
husband of 41 years, Bernard McTiernan (1997), her second husband
Gerry McCarthy (2002) and her brother Bernard White
Jr.
She is survived by and will be
forever loved and missed by her children, Bonnie McTiernan-Craig
(Gary) of Riverview, Neil (Monique) of Riverview, Anne
McTiernan-Gamble (Jamie) of Hampton, and Heather of Fredericton;
grandchildren Nicholas (Mica), Luke (Ashley), Cameron, Sophie; great
grand-daughter Willow; many nieces and nephews, as well as members of
the McCarthy family who so warmly welcomed her into their
lives.
Phyllis’ family
would like to thank the many individuals who helped her in recent
years (from health professionals, care givers, friends, and
acquaintances, to the kindness of strangers), in ways large and small,
allowing her to enjoy quality of life until her final
days
Visitation will be at
