Obituary of IRENE REICHERT
IRENE REICHERT
October 19, 1927 – August 22, 2020
With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom and Grandma, Irene Reichert (nee Armstrong).
She will be deeply missed by her children, Bruce, Janet (Yvonne) and Heather (Dwayne) and her grandchildren, Meaghan (Michael) and Kelsey (Jonathan). She will also be lovingly remembered by sister in laws Isabel Reichert and Janet Armstrong and many nieces and nephews.
Mom has gone to be with her husband Russell and daughter Diane, her brothers Larry and Don, and parents Walter and Elva.
Mom’s life journey took her from Morden, where she was born, to Winnipeg at the age of 18. She worked as a bookkeeper at Minneapolis Moline for many years until she married her high school sweetheart, Russ, and started their family.
Later in life, her journey took her to Moncton, New Brunswick, where she started her second career as a real estate agent. Mom was very proud of the fact that she completed her Appraiser’s certificate. In the early 70’s, she was one of only three out of 50 candidates that successfully completed the course. And she was the only woman to do so! Later, when she was back in Winnipeg, Mom went on to get her Fellow of the Real Estate Institute.
Mom was a woman of strong mind, body, and spirit. She continually amazed us with her memories of events so full of details with the names of people and places; she had a mind like a steel trap. And her body was strong, too. She survived lung cancer surgery, an aortic dissection, and was given a new lease on life at the age of 89 when she received a TAVI. Mom lived independently right up until the end.
To know her was to love her. And we did love her! She was the ultimate mom and grandma: loving, caring and warm. She even made all her children’s and grandchildren’s friends feel like they had a second mother.
She taught us more than she could know. It is not lost on us how lucky we were to have had such an amazing woman in our lives for as long as we did.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. For those who wish to attend, please contact the family directly in order to receive information regarding the service.
Due to the current health restrictions, a maximum of 50 guests will be able to attend the memorial service. Masks are not mandatory, but are encouraged. For those unable to attend, a livestream will be provided to those who wish to view the service on Irene’s obituary at www.cropo.ca.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
Mom, you will be forever in our hearts.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of IRENE
