It is with sadness that we announce the passing of
Joan Marilyn Hawker, age 87, of
Springhill, NS. Joan passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020
at High Crest Nursing Home.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late
Kenneth and Emily (Light) Terris.
Joan loved to bowl and dance. She was a member of
the Lady Minto Rebekah Lodge and the Springhill Seniors
Club. Before the Springhill Senior’s Club, she belonged to a
local Card Club, where she loved to play
45’s.
She will be sadly missed by daughters, Anita (Layton)
McDermott, Southampton, NS and Marilyn (John) Mitchell, Springhill,
NS; sons, Russell, Springhill, NS, William (Toby), Pugwash,
NS, and Charles (Debbie), Lakeside, NS; several
grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren; sister, Karen Ann
(Bob) MacDonald, Springhill, NS.
She was predeceased by her husband William Russell Hawker;
brothers, Ron, Harold and Darrell “Denny”.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of
A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). There will be no
visitation or service. A family graveside service will be
held in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS beside her husband
Bill.
The family would like to express a sincere thank-you to
Kitten Casey and the staff of High Crest for the care and kindness
they gave to Joan.
Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the charity of
your choice.
