Florence Lawrence
Florence “Toots” Marie Lawrence, resident of Clairmont, AB, formerly of Buffalo Lake, AB, Passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie.
Toots was born April 4, 1930 in Johanna’s Maternity Home in smith, AB. She grew up on the farm east of smith. She attended Morningview School followed by high school in Grande Prairie where she lived in the dorm. After school, she worked at the Royal Bank in smith.
In September 1950, she married Hugh Lawrence. They had three sons: Gary (1951), Fred (1953), and Brian (1956). In 1968, she took in her brother, Ray’s, children: Joyce and Eric. She lived most of her married life on the farm in Buffalo Lake. She was secretary for many years for the local REA and the Buffalo Lake Ladies Club. Toots enjoyed gardening, cooking knitting, playing crib, and being with family.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Gary (Deb), Fred (Janice), and Brian; grandchildren: Corey, Laura (Andrew), Alanna (Lee), Lisa, (Scott), and Koren; great-grandchildren: Jade, McKenna, Alissa, Taylor, Keely, and Clark; niece Joyce Rossiter; and nephew Eric Lee.
Toots was predeceased by her parents Martin and Ingeborg, brother Raymond Lee, husband Hugh Lawrence, grandson Tyrel Lawrence, as well as several in-laws.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 2:00pm, at Valhalla Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (9920 91 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0G3).
